// National Director of CARE Norway Gry Larsen is currently the National Director of CARE Norway. CARE in an international NGO doing humanitarian and development work in more than 100 countries with a special emphasis on gender equality and women rights. CARE Norway has programmes in 13 countries and work on women’s economic empowerment, women’s voice and leadership and women’s sexual and reproductive health and rights. In 2019 CARE and Storebrand, Norway’s largest asset manager, launched the report “Investing in Gender Equality” Before joining CARE, Gry Larsen was appointed State Secretary in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in 2009, representing the Norwegian Labour Party. Her portfolio included Gender equality, humanitarian affairs, human rights, the UN, peace and reconciliation and budget and administration. From 2005 – 2009 she was political advisor to the Foreign Minister of Norway. Gry Larsen joined the Labour Party at an early age and has a long background and has had several positions within the party, including being the leader of the youth wing of the party (AUF) for 4 years Her academic background is from political science, history and North Africa and Middle-East studies.
